About our blog

While wandering across a diverse medley of 19 different countries spanning four continents between 2007-12, Jon and Carla Dow used this blog to keep in touch with family and friends.

Now back in the UK, the couple continue writing for this website, albeit at a slower pace, during (as frequent as possible) holidays and trips.

  1. Hi Carla

Just wanted to leave you a message to wish you all the best on your travels. I am looking forward to reading about all your escapades. Missing you already! Safe flights to your first destination, and every other journey thereafter.

    Have fun :0)

Hope you are both enjoying the start of your journey. Keep safe and have fun.

Will keep following your travel blog.

  5. Hi Carla and Jon!

Great photos – fantastic skies! hope all is going well for you.The Red Crocodile exercise went well (well – fairly well!)- many thanks for your help on the media front. We seem to be setting fire to the UK at the moment – two very large fires in blocks of flats with over 30 people homeless for each. Plenty of work for FESS at both and plenty of news and video coverage, we even got just a brief glimpse of FESS at work!

Now, not that I am envious but I shall look forward to seeing more of your trip.

    Best wishes,

    Malcolm J

  6. Hey John!

Not going to lie and say “sounds like you’re having a great time” because I haven’t read a word of the blog. But I will say that I’m sure you’re having a great time and that, yes I’m still jealous!

    BUT…

Today I eased my jealousy just a little by purchasing a top of the range, brand spanking new, you know you want one, but you can’t have one (yet), 2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5, 2560 x 1440 resolution, 4GB (two 2GB) memory, 1TB hard drive1, AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 512MB… iMac!!!!

    Arrives in 3 days!

    Later dude!

    • Nice mate – I´m loving Apple at the moment. Bringing my iPod away has been a Godsend. Free wifi, it can take pretty decent pics, podcasts as shit ton of music. I can definitely see myself becoming a fanboy like yourself when i get back and get a job!

  7. Jonny – When are we going to see a post from you. Surely you haven’t lost your writing touch. Do you need an incentive to have it featured on i-travel!

  8. Hello hello! Wowee sounds like you’re having an amazing time!! Very jealous!! Enjoy Bali – always wanted to go there! Stay sweet, keep in touch xxx

  9. Keep enjoying your travels. Hope your Indian visa has been sorted. Tenzin is back from his travels in India.

  10. Just managed to get Mike Baxter’s admin up to date so have stolen a moment to have a look at your blog. Sounds as if you’re having a fantastic time. I’m deeply envious and wish I was young again! Don’t know quite how but the Red Cross here is managing to keep going without you – just! We now have a new Area Director – Colin Brown (no relation, but he seems a nice guy). We look forward to seeing you again in December but keep enjoying yourselves until then.

    All best wishes,

    John
